Smoked Brat “Pig in a Blanket” with Beer Cheese

INGREDIENTS

PIG IN A BLANKET:
4 oz Smoked Brat, Dearborn VE 064738
1 ½ pieces 5 x 5 Puff Pastry, Pillsbury, VE 016294
1 Egg, Beaten, Sunrise Acres, VE 075203
¼ tsp Poppyseeds, McCormick, VE 039678
BEER CHEESE:
1 lb Beer Cheese Base, JTM, VE 051363
2 oz Beer of Your Choice

DIRECTIONS

Quarter the puff pastry square corner to corner, creating 4 triangles.
Cut the brat into 6 equal pieces- place a piece of brat along the bottom of the triangle- roll up towards the point of the triangle (creating a ‘crescent roll’ shape).
Brush tops with a beaten egg, and sprinkle with poppyseed.
Bake in the oven at 450° F for 9-11 minutes, rotating once halfway through.
For the beer cheese, gently heat the beer cheese base over a medium-low burner.
Whisk in the beer, and heat, whisking, until beer is incorporate and cheese is hot.
Check seasoning and adjust with salt and pepper, if necessary.
Serve wrapped brats with 3 oz. of beer cheese for dipping.
